SASHA CHIMAERA
Sasha Chimaera is a threefaced mischief-maker best known at present for their music. Through all of their creative undertakings, which include music, production, performance art, video, video editing, screenwriting, directing, acting, illustration, and graphic design, they adventure to illuminate the multifaceted nature of the universe and the humor that splays therein.
Chimaera began working on music and video in 2018, graduating in 2019 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a degree in film, video and new media. In 2022, they were a recipient of the Creatives Rebuild NY grant. Their film Vague Devil (2019, 41m runtime) was screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center to controversial acclaim. They have worked with a multitude of wonderful artists including DIY legend R. Stevie Moore, cult classic composer Simon Hanes of Tredici Bacci, weird pop powerhouse Ryan Power, and the many-talented composer and theater performer Max Bennett-Parker. They hosted a college radio show, The Inescapable Maze, and appeared as the first guest on the WFMU show Radioactivity with Abbie from Mars.
A Brooklyn native, Chimaera is Jewish, autistic, and has ADHD. Their most recent album, Star, is a diversely puzzling collection comprising finetuned approximations of vintage, contemporary, and personal genres of music. They are currently working on an AI-infused comedy show for television, business seminars for healthy relationships, and a third album.
